Elevated Heliport TLOF

The Heliport TLOF is a steady omnidirectional green light designed for marking the Touchdown and Lift-Off (TLOF) area.

It can be also used as a perimeter light especially on elevated heliports with limited space available, where FATO and TLOF areas may be the same, in this case only TLOF lights are installed.

A lighting system must be present on the heliports where night operations are conducted.

These lights should be located on TLOF boundaries. If the TLOF is a circle you need a minimum of 14 lights. If the TLOF is a square you need a minimum of 4 lights for each side and the distance between lights must be a maximum of 3 meters for elevated heliports or helidecks and no more than 5 m for ground heliports.

Heliport TLOF Description

  • The mounting system is elevated, fixed on a base plate with a frangible coupling
  • The casing is made of powder-coated aluminum
  • The diffuser is made of clear polycarbonate UV protected

Electrical specification

  • The power supply can be a heliport controller. In this case, the control is also made in three steps from the heliport controller. Power input can be low voltage, 48 V DC or it can work in constant current when the distance from the heliport controller to the lights is long and this will generate a big drop of voltage on cables.
  • Optionally it can be powered at 90-230V, 50/60Hz but the light fixtures will no longer have the dimming function
  • The total power is just 10W

Heliport TLOF Environment

  • TLOF heliport elevated lights were tested for working environments from -50 to + 50 °C
  • The degree of protection is IP 67
  • The exposed surface to the wind is low so it can withstand strong wind
  • UV protected polycarbonate makes it resistant to sun radiation

Optical characteristics

  • The light source is made with GREEN LEDs and special lenses to obtain the ICAO specifications
  • The color and lights distribution passes the tests according to ICAO into an external recognised laboratory
  • The expected lifetime for LEDs is more than 100000 working hours

Heliport TLOF Application

•  Surface or ground Heliports and Helipads
•  Elevated Helipads
•  Offshore helidecks
